On the Scene: Retapping trees at Dry Brook Sugar House

Today we are at Dry Brook Sugar House in Salem, N.Y. where the Keyes and Chambers families are retapping a sugarbush to get a little more life out of what has been a very long season. Tapped since mid-January, the men decided this week to rebore the same tap holes with a slightly bigger drill bit (from 19/64ths on the original hole to 5/16ths on the rebored holes) and the results they say have been fantastic.
