On the Scene: Boiling with Glenn Goodrich on his high brix evaporator on his last day of season

Today we visit with Glenn Goodrich at his new operation in Eden, Vt. on his last day of the season, May 1. He had more than 36,000 taps in this 2018 season and hopes to be at 100,000 for next season. All sap is coming right to the sugarhouse and processed on a new "high brix" R/O and evaporator set-up from H2O Innovation that features more than 84 feet of flat pan boiling surface. Sap goes into the rig at 35 percent concentrate and Goodrich says the syrup tastes like the "syrup of old" made by his grandfather back in the '50s.
