On the Scene: Fall sugaring at Roxbury Mountain Maple

Today we are visiting the Holscher family in Hobart, N.Y. as they continue with their fall tapping season. As of Dec. 6, they have made more than 500 gallons of mostly dark syrup off a 6,200-tap bush of Red maples. They are happy with their decision and have enjoyed perfect sugaring weather since mid-November. They expect to get full production out of the same bush right through to spring.
